Funeral services for Billy Joe Burnett, age 78, of Katy, are scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Autry Funeral Home chapel, Jacksonville.
Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery, Jacksonville.
He passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 in Houston.
Mr. Burnett was born November 29, 1931 in Dialville, Cherokee County, TX.
Mr. Burnett served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, was a Baptist, real estate agent and plant manager for the Ball Valve Division of Cameron Iron for 22 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Rubert Carl and Ruby Burnett, and sister Carldene Bones.
Survivors include wife Elizabeth Ann Smith Burnett of Katy; daughters Melissa Suzanne Burnett Smith of Katy and Sandra Lynn Burnett of Jacksonville; brother Dan Ray Burnett and wife Gwendolyn D. of Santa Fe; sisters Zanetta Knesek and husband Mike of Sealy and Rose Virginia Holsomback and husband James of Lufkin; two grandchildren Eric Alexander Smith of Katy and Brandon Kyle Smith and wife Heather of Katy; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Eric Smith, Brandon Smith, Hunter Throckmorton, Connor Throckmorton, Reggie Smith and Sydney Daryl Commander.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Holsomback and Nolan Smith.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
