Obituary for Dr. Paul Davenport

Dr. Paul S. Davenport was born on August 9, 1948 to Harbert and Catherine (Barksdale) Davenport in Houston, Texas. He passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in Tyler, Texas at the age of 71.
Paul and his family moved to Jacksonville in 1950 and he was a member of the Jacksonville High School class of 1966. His college days were spent at The University of Texas in Austin and Stephen F. Austin University. Upon graduation he was accepted into and graduated with honors from The University of Texas Medical School in Galveston. After four more years of study Paul opened his Dermatology practice in Jacksonville and also maintained offices in Henderson, Palestine, and Athens. After 36 years of dedicated service to these communities he retired in 2016.
Paul was a lifelong member of The First Presbyterian Church. He was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, and the Houston Astros. Paul never met a dog or a cat that he didn’t love and he opened his home to many furry friends throughout his life.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Chuck. He is survived by his brother, Bill, and wife, Alice, of Macomb, Illinois, his brother, John, and wife, Donna, of Forney, Texas, seven nephews and nieces, seven great nephews and nieces and other family and friends.
A graveside service is scheduled at Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Meador Cemetery in Jacksonville. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
